Gill curl reversible?

I was at my LFS the other day, they had a few Asians one had very nice coloring but both its gill plates were curled.

I was wondering if they will/can return to normal if so I might pick it up at a discounted price.

If your getting it for a good price and the gill curl is not that bad. you can do cut the the part thats curled and it should grow back fine. I juts did the operation last week and its growing back nicely now.

I did it on my RTG a few weeks ago and u cant see its been curled..
