Gill curl surgery needed?

I don't think my aro had fill curl yet but do you guys think I need to cut off some of the gill plate tissue? I've seen videos on YouTube and their gill plates looks shorter than mine which is why I'm asking. Thanks in advance!!

why would you do that if an aro doesn't have gill curl?
 
Hard to tell from the pics but if it isn't curling there is no reason to cut it.
