Gill curl surgery needed?

I don't think my aro had fill curl yet but do you guys think I need to cut off some of the gill plate tissue? I've seen videos on YouTube and their gill plates looks shorter than mine which is why I'm asking. Thanks in advance!!

Seems unnecessary right now for cosmetic reasons. As long as the fish is fine, leave it alone. Beautiful fish by the way, very jealous .
