In the air and I ain't comin down!
Ok so I have searched the thread and used the internet but I still could not get my question answered. My question is the reacurence of this happining? I have dealt with it twice in the past three month's. I know why it is happining and have gotten it to go back to normal twice now, but I was wondering will this always happen? I am sure and positive all this can be solved by moving the Arow to a bigger tank. But would still love to know if others who have treated this issue have seen this happen again in with the same Arow in the smae enviroment or after moving the Arow to a new tank? Ok I off to read more about this issue. I am pretty sure mine is getting it from backing up from all the scuffling in the tank that he is in. I know I need to move him soon (ASAP) so please be kind.

Thanks Crazyfish I did read that somewhere in a post by Big Spizz that increased water flow ie.. Power head should help. Sometimes the obvious is missed when your just plain out overwhelmed. I will pick up another Power head and see how this benifits his situatioun. Thanks again.

NP, in fact I'm no expert with gill curl on Aros cuz it never happened to me before but usually when I do see it happen(usually Aros with gill curl at LFS's) is because due to assuming lack of oxygen, poor water quality and small tanks.

I am pretty sure my issue would be poor water quality due to overstoking and I have become a little lazzy. That's why I posted as to get some ideas and I know I really need to step my game up or start thining out the stock. Starting with the Arow. I love him but with my set ups and choice of stock he kind of sticks out like a sore thumb! But thanks again any suggestion can't hurt sense I still consider myself an Aro noob. I just recently re read a thread and obtained more information on the subjuct of Arow so I am still a work in progress.

Hey maybe the person I recieved/rescued him from would be interested in taking him back now! 12'' larger but who's counting.

Ya being overstocked it's a must to have proper maintainence and enough filtration. Myself I'm also heavily overstocked but I'm running alot of filtration and I do massive WC's twice a week. Anyhow GL with your situation.

Hey Mike, I give you a call later but as said above the GC is caused by poor water quality and/or small tanks.

gill curling is caused by overstocking your fish tank and the size of your fish tank...causing the fish to swim backwards to turn itself around..

Thanks for all the reply's everyone. I will never take in an unwanted fish especially Arow in the future for sure. I have enough issues with my want list. I am making arrangment's to get this beauty into a 500g hopefully it works out if not I will be selling him to the LFS. I probably should have done this from the jump since I really didn't wan't to deal with an Arow and there special needs. Thanks again everyone.

when i got my jar (14") i noticed that the fish was swimming backward to turn cause it was in a 90g tank. and it had major gill curl. the gill was curled all the way back to the front. after i cut it, it started swimming normal again.
