I oh WA
Need some basic info primarly on what to feed them as juviniles. I've checked the websites and got a pretty good understanding but Id like a 2nd opinion from some fish experts that may have had or may know alot about the Giraffe Nosed Catfish.

Thanks

Mine was very active, seemed to be always searching for food which was sinking pellets(different brands but mostly Hikari sinking cichlid),earthworms, and raw shrimp. It did'nt bother any of the other fish. They grow very big so be prepared and provide plenty of space.

I had mine in with an O.Niger and they were about the same size in the beginning. The giraffe started to show size growth as it would always beat the Niger to any food dropped during the day.I had to feed the Niger at night and it was half the size of the giraffe by the time I the time I sold the giraffe.

I've had my giraffe cat for about 10 months. He's gone from 16" to at LEAST 20", but probably more. His mass has probably doubled at minimum. I just moved him to my 600 gallon tank about a month and a half ago. He is one of my favorite fish, and has some serious 'tude for a catfish. He pushes around all of my other catfish and they are TSN, RTCxTSN and ripsaws ranging from beefy 20-27"+. He's a super friendly, eating and pooping machine (poops are up to the size of a land cat's). He is one of the most active swimmer I own and digs in the sand leaving behind little craters. He will eventually outgrow my 600 and be moved into at least a 3,000 gallon pond as they can get to 3' with massively thick bodies. If you can house them, they are GREAT fish, but they really need big homes.

Would these things work with Rays? I mean would they bully and steal food from rays? Can they be trained to eat floating pellets?

Ive had two giraffe cats with two very different personalities. The first was very active and a very prolific eater. Constantly swimming around the tank and greeting everyone who comes into the room. My second giraffe has a very docile personality and can be skittish at times. Kind of a problem for a 13" fish. As far as feeding goes its hard to find food they dont like. Chopped earthworms, krill, shrimp, cichlid pellets just a start
