I was told that even very large giraffe catfish wouldnt even eat small fry or really tiny fish but I'm not so sure about that so would a say 12 to 15 inch giraffe catfish eat my 1 to 1.5 inch sterbai Cory catfish I think it would I was told it wouldn't but I believe it would suck them up can anybody answer this question ? Cause if they won't eat them I will end up buying one

I have a large giraffe catfish and he has eaten several other fish. Not through aggressivly trying to eat them, moreso because they got in the path of him hoovering the bottom or got sucked in when he was checking them out. I wouldn't consider keeping one with corys, could work out pretty badly for both parties as even if he did suck them in they'd probably get jammed if they locked their pectorals.

They eat invertebrates so I don't see why they wouldn't eat a fish that could fit in its mouth. It's omnivorous so an opportunistic feeder. I wouldn't risk it.

Thanks guys that's what I thought but the guy kept convincing me otherwise that why I figured I'd ask you guys to back up what I know and thought thanks :)

I like the above answers. These are not high probability events but can happen and rarely does happen. Corys have been known to get stuck in the gills of predators having spread and locked their pec and dorsal spines. In these cases, they need to be cut out with a scalpel.

Large Giraffe cats and Doradid cats are much like corys in their habits, only 1000 times bigger :)

hey Matt i have a 8" rtc that doesnt eat other fish.(to my knowlege) if you want to come get him lol

but in all reality most fish will eat what fits in their mouth. and dont ever trust catfish lol
