Anybody know if giraffe catfish are legal and how big they usually get?

Dont know legal issues but I can tell you the biggest giraffe brought up in the aquarium ive seen is 3 ft.We have 2 one about 24" one about 20".They have a reputation as vert peaceful fish but whilst ours dont cause much damage they can be very nasty both to each other and to a longibarbis in the tank(tank is 9ftx3ft6x2ft so they have plenty of room.)
