So I've seen it all now with my rays.

I'm currently breeding a certain group of rays I know when they are pregnant ,when about it happened ,when they are about to birth ect...

Watching my Seahawks last Sunday (whooping 49ers) came down during the 1 hour rain delay to watch the rays because I had noticed the male start trying to breed with a pregnant female. This is something they do about a week to a few days before they are ready to birth. And it is possible the male can get the female pregnant before she actually releases the previous batch pups.

So I noticed two little pups swimming just fresh maybe 30 minutes old . Momma ray was still not deflated and I can see a pup still kicking in her. Few hours later come down to see if the third or more pups were born yet and to my surprise the daddy ray grabbed the very tired stressed momma ray and started to breed her. He did his business for about two minutes until she started swimming around with him still connected to her :)

Daddy ray is very persistent and won't stop trying to breed until he knows she's pregnant. She is still holding a pup and pregnant with a new batch of pups and gave birth all with in few hours.

Last time I seen serious movement was two nights ago. He would still be all over her if he hasn't got the job done weather it's pheromones or his electro senses know body knows but some how rays do.

So it is possible rays can give birth get pregnant again and give birth again to a previous pup(s)

Interesting thread. Keen to read the feedback.
How old are the breeding rays and what type?
Thanks for sharing... :)

How do you know a female can be impregnated again before giving birth? I dont "think" thats how it works. Can a female be impregnated a month before giving birth? Would be a good question for the stingray bioligists.

How many times has your same female given birth? Do you ever give her a break or just allow her to keep getting pregnant? I am interested to know how many times breeders allow their rays to breed before giving them a break, or do they get a break at all? Thanks and great work you are doing there!

This thread is useless without pictures. Can't just say that you have an unknown species that you are currently breeding that are seven years old and expect to leave it at that.

I've seen my rays get pregnant before they give birth other times also. If you notice yours trev the male is usually on her a week or so before she gives birth.
It can be very hard on them. In the wild they swim away. In captivity the male don't give up. Also have you ever noticed they put up way less of a fight and easier for the male at around this time.
