Where can i get glass or acrylic tops for a 40gal breeder and/or 20gal long?
I'm going the shoplight-on-top-of-glass-top route and even though i probably saved a good amount by using a shoplight, i still don't want to shell out all that money on glass tops.
Is there anywhere online that will have them for cheaper than petcosmartlandsuppliesplus even with shipping? Or would it still be cheaper than retail if i get pieces of glass/acrylic and hinge them and attach handles to them myself?

I bought glass tops for my 45 gal tank for about 20 buck at my LFS.

For my tanks, I just by a large peice of 1/4" acrylic and cut it to suit. Then drill holes and stuff for connecting it to hood fixtures.

You might want to go thicker, if it's a large opening the acrylic will bow inward.

I just went to Home Depot and picked up some acrylic and cut it to fit. And yes it does bow after a little while so i just flip it over, and over , and over. Yea it's a little ghetto but hey it was cheap and it works!!

You could silicone a metal brace underneath the middle of the acrylic sheet so that's it will offer support. I had the bowing problem but after silicone a small piece underneath, I have no more bowing.
