I'm wanting to sink some plastic plants in a bare bottom aquarium. I was thinking about removing them from their current (unattractive) base, putting them in a short, candleholder made of thick glass and holding them there with aquarium silicone. Would there be anything in the glass that would cause a problem? (I'm assuming there wouldn't be, but I'm kind of paranoid being a beginner).

Im an art major, I have had years with ceramics and glass making and as far as this is just plain old clear glass and there is no coloration to it, ( some handblown glass has lead or pewter traces in it) you should be good. I am almost completely certain this will have no harmful affect to your aquarium. Glass is almost always a sealed and sterile material for aquariums.
