I'm considering getting some glass catfish if I end up following through with the possible future upgrade of my existing 473 liter to a custom 682 liter of 2.44m long x 61cm wide x 45cm tall.
Just have some questions regarding their compatibility with the clown loaches and pictus catfish they will be with if I get them:

-Could clown loaches be considered too boisterous and active for glass catfish in the same way that they are considered such for other sensitive, slow-moving fish (like discus)? I am aware glass catfish can be quite easily taken out by stress, and consequently worried that the clown loaches might cause enough stress to do that.

-Are glass catfish small enough to get eaten by pictus catfish? The pictus catfish leave the bite-size black kuhli loaches alone, but these are much faster than glass catfish and possibly more inconspicuous, leading to my concern about the glass catfish being eaten.

-Would I potentially have to worry about the glass catfish getting enough to eat, since they are much slower eaters than the very fast-eating clown loaches and pictus catfish?

Thanks.

Whilst not a usual choice I do have a type of glass catfish currently living with adult yo-yo loaches with no issues. Pictus cats in my opinion keep their activity to their group very much, as you have probably found with them not bothering Khuli loach. Glass catfish are after all catfish and have the same senses and night vision as Pictus, so I would expect them to fare better than “swimmy fish” or indeed Khuli’s. There are also a number of type of glass catfish. Some being less transparent and larger, but finding these for sale may not be so easy. Again I would expect glass catfish to manage to get food, they do not swim much so do not eat much either, but you may have to feed just before lights out to give them an advantage.

Our glass cats got along fine with the clown loaches & gouramis & SAE. Our Pictus ate whatever it could jam into its mouth, so we got rid of that beautiful fish killer from our community tank. Never had Pictus & glass cats at once.

I just don't think the glass catfish are robust enough. They won't get eaten or suddenly die of stress, but they may slowly wither away. My opinion is - don't do it.

Irrelevant question: how big do CB pictus catfish USUALLY grow? Thanks ?

A tail at a time if they were that way inclined - I just don’t think they would be.
Ya same. The pictus catfish isn’t really an aggressive predator, and I think the glass catfish would be too big to be eaten
