I got a deal on piece of glass. 8ft by 4 ft 1" thick bulletproof. Is it safe for a viewing window tank? Maybe 8ft long 5ft wide 4ft height?

It might very well be. Explain the bullet proof. Is it laminated? Laminates and polycarbonates can stop bullets (they use them now on Humvees I think), while plain float glass, toughened or tempered glass of similar thickness won't.

Here's the thing. Stopping a bullet isn't necessarily a condition that works for a tank. Kevlar will stop a bullet, but a tank made of kevlar will fail. You'd want to find out exactly what the glass is made of and how it's structured. Bullet proof doesn't necessarily mean it will deflect water.

I'm rooting for you because that would be an amazing window, so here's hoping it's the right thing.

This is a cool video, although it doesn't answer your question.

They are asking for $400, and i negotiate down to $200. Is it good?

id take a gamble for $200 lol... alot of time "bullet proof glass" i see for sale used is actually a lexan/poly laminated mix. maybe u'll get lucky and it wont be "glass" but a plastic composite. I agree to find out anything you can about it. If its plastic itell def work. I'd assume glass glass would aswell but im not as versed on that subject as with acrylics/plastics.

For $200.00 I would risk it. Then get two 3/4" sheets of plywood, cdx, and 12 2x6 boards, and a 16 x 16 blue tarp. Build a 8' x 4' × 2' stout frame, like something for concrete, with the glass one one side, and braced as it would be for an aquarium. Use the tarp as a liner, and see if you can brake it by filling it with water.
It will probably bow a little before it brakes. Just be sure to be safe. And video it. ☺
