I tried searching old threads the best i could for ideas but nothing seems to be working so i thought i'd make a new thread.

So it's been 2 weeks since i picked him up from the LFS and i've tried feeding flakes, sinking pellets, frozen and freeze dried bloodworms and tubifex worms. He's mouthed flakes and the bloodworms but spits them out right away. Feeding at night doesn't seem to help much. He will eat the pleco's cucumber and nip away at anything besides food, driftwood and plants, and seems quite healthy and active despite the eating thing.

I'm kinda at a loss at what to do. He will even come out to stare at all the food during feeding time, just won't eat anything, so hand feeding isn't really going to help.

Any other suggestions or should i just keep doing the same stuff and hope that he decides to eat.

He's around 10-12cm right now so feeders aren't really a possibility. The LFS fed him black worms.

Thanks in advance

or glass knives get live black worms

you could try brine shrimp as well
yeah i figure i'll end up having to buy black worms if he doesn't eat what i have over this weekend. I'd rather not though.

Thats what my LFS was feeding him, i made a typo

Thanks for the advice

what size tank is he in? Who are his tank mates? Are there other glass knifefish in the tank as well? Are their places for the fish to hide?

These guys like to be in groups and are very timid (more boisterous fish and a lack of cover might throw them off). .

by himself in a 28 bow with 4 swordtails, a clown pleco and 6 hatchets, water quality is good, read 0 ammonia/nitrite and <20 nitrate

no fish bother him and he has a nice little spot under some driftwood and javafern that he typically stays in when the lights are on. He is very active, doesn't seem timid at all and is right there in the food scramble with the swords at feeding, he just doesn't eat anything.

Is he somehow getting enough food to stay content by eating cucumbers, driftwood and plants. Guess he's just a herbivore  lol

its too small of a tank to get more, i think. If not do you normally get 3-4?

lol, i just tried to hand feed him tubifex worms.

He would mouth them out of my hand, then spit them out or smash his face into the partial cube that i was holding so that the worms would break apart and then he would watch them.

He then attacked one of the swords that was actually eating the worms nearby. :screwy:

At least he is making things interesting, not just laying around eating nothing.
