I have glass lids and a canopy my question is, should I leave the front lid on even tho the canopy covers in case fish decide to jump out or will the canopy be able to prevent them from jumping without the front lid?

They could jump out and flop around on the rest of the lids eventually flopping out the back and out to their death.
Leave the front lids on. If you are trying to cool the tank, you could remove the whole glass lid and block of the back of the canopy. So if fish decide to jump they will just land back into the water. You could make a screen top.

egg crate (lighting covers)from home depot work well

I leave my glass lid proped all the way open! Never had a fish jump out once just problems with evaporation and my brothers stupid cat (knock on wood)
