I currently am using some plastic wrap as a cover for my 10 gallon but it is becoming very annoying to change the plastic wrap every time I do a water change. I have lots of 1/8" glass so I was thinking of making a lid for it but I have a few questions.
First can you look at these pictures and tell me which is the best layout?
blue= glass
red= hob/heater
black= tank rim

Also do I cut the glass to fit on the top of the tank or so that it sits and the little ledge?

I like the 2nd pic with the HOB on the end of the tank but it's really personal preference.

I would cut the glass so it sits on the lip of the trim, that is how glass lids are normally installed.
