Glass Media and alfa grog in external filters?

hi guys just a quick question. i got an 18" Silver Arowana from a guy who had him in a 4ftx4fx3ft tank that was crystal clear. his filteration was 1 x FX5 full with just Al***rog and 1 x Eheim 2217 full of Glass media (normaly used in Sand filters as an alternative to Sand)

i was thinking of doing this to my 175G tank. i currently have a Eheim Pro 2 running normal media (i know i need more filteration) but i am adding a 2217 and a bucket 2260 and was thinking of adding just al***rog to the 2260 and just glass to the 2217 both will still have the sponges. i will have this by next week so any thoughts from you guys would be great.

Not familiar with it. My choice is which ever media is cheapest. There are a lot of types of media that work great. If you can buy this stuff cheap get it

hi, i got all 3 filters running now, got the 2217 half full of glass media and then 4 sponges on top, the 2260 filled only with Alfa grog topped with a piece of jap matting as i could not find a big round sponge so had to cut it to size myself.

all seems to be working fine. i will update as time goes by, the fish are loving it, i hope lol
