Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this but how do I determine what thickness and whether I should use acrylic or glass for viewing windows of an outdoor pond. The thing is, the pond is above ground so I just want the top 2' and the rest of the structure is concrete therefore its not going to supporting the full weight/pressure from the water.

With that in mind, which would be better - glass or acrylic?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry I should give more details. Basically, now I have a 22'x15'x3' concrete pond which I'm expanding to 30'x15'x6' and in an effort to maximize viewing I thought it would be nice to if there were viewing windows. Given the size of the pond, costs would be prohibitive so I came up with this.

Sorry this is the first time I've ever used SketchUp so you'll have to forgive the bad quality. I might even go 8' with 2' in-ground but wouldn't height require thicker acrylic/glass or does putting them right at the top make that fact redundant?

Thanks again.

Let's bring this back up and see if we can get you an answer.

Post up the exact length and height of the viewing windows and I'll figure it for you.
