Half done with a new 200g plywood/epoxy build. It will have 4 individual viewing panes approx. 14" x 24". Glass and Plexi both have there weaknesses. Which do you think is best?
i personally think plexi will be better just cause im a fan of things that are lightweight plus IMO it is more durable and "stronger" than glass..but im not sure on price.....
I would go with glass. Less headache as fare as silicone goes. And for the size of your windows you shouldn't have to much weight per piece of glass. And glass doesn't scratch as easy.
Glass has been my preference due to the scratching issue. Even though I am a professional furniture maker, I still worry that I don't have the frames true to plane enough! How much twist/flex can glass take without breaking? And can silicone be built up to compensate? I am confident I am within 1/32" of perfect in an area 14x24.
I've built some acrylic tanks in the past. IME, it warps and bows too much. I'll never use it for building tanks again. I have nothing but glass tanks now.
