Im about to buy an aquarium and thinking about painting the back of the tank black or blue on the outside. I was just wondering what everyone used to paint their aquarium? Or if anyone had any recommendations as to type of paint, no gloss, med gloss, make, etc......thanks for your feedback.

I used Valspar textured paint on the back of my tank for the color and effect, it looked like a rock/granite back and side wall. Very nice and clean. I was quite happy with the results. Please disregard the horrid silicone job, it was a repair on an antique 25 gallon.

ACE black spray enamel

that tank looked cool. thanks for the input!

what ever is the cheapest flat finish... usually walmarts or home depots cheapest flat black ffor me... get a cheap roller and done in a matter of minutes..

99 cent spraypaint... I actually get the darkest blue I can find and black. I spray the tank with the black on a gradient, light at the top and dark on the bottom. When I add blue paint to the mix it looks good.

Good luck, just remember, there are more than one way to skin a cat.
