Hey all! Did a little shopping this week with some local glass companies and got these figures...Maybe some people from Minnesota can help me out a little as I compare prices to find the best deal!

What prices have my fellow MFKers been seeing in other states?

I got a quote from a local shop here in Cedar Rapids Iowa for a 72x24 piece of glass. It was about $205 for 1/2 inch and $178 for 3/8. I think that was with edges polished. That was for regular float glass. I did not ask about starfire. Not in Minn I know but at least in your part of the country. Where in Minn. are you? Just curious if you find a great deal I might have to make a trip.

unless you are building a rimless tank, there is no reason to get the edges polished.

Seems expensive, I paid AU$167.00 for a 12mm sheet 1740*540.

I did shop around until I found a one man operation with low overheads tho.

Thanks for the info! I'm from Bemidji, so this definitely helps. I haven't checked any prices around here though.

Yeah seems expensive, but doesn't Australia have some major glass manufacturers?

I don't know much about manufacturing glass here but most of the prices quoted on fish products, on this site, are as cheap as chips compared with what we pay.

Case in point, FX5 = 600 bucks here and you guys talk about getting them for a couple of ton.
