i recently cast net some food for my crappie in some brackish waters by my house and pulled up some glass shrimp, i put one in my freshwater setup to see what would happen, and he is still alive and doing well. what are the chances that he will help with some of the debris left after feedings, and should i get some more in there and start a colony of them?

As long as the tankmates aren't predatory, you can try a colony of them.:)

make sure theyre grass shrimp (glass) and not Sand Shrimp or juvie White Rose Shrimp. The 1st one is commonly found in FW but the other 2 will die.

he's def a glass shrimp as i can hardly find him in my tank. my fish is predatory, but hey, if they get eaten thats OK.

cleaner, feeder....same thing :)

i use ghost shrimp in my gar tank. they clean then get eaten. sometimes eaten and no cleanin but hey what the heck. Gar loves them

I use them in my turtle tank -- any thing the turtle sees is eaten ASAP -- so shrimp he can't see is a good thing, since it can live long enough to not just become more waste matter to clean up.

yeah i have three little herps here. never even thought abou putting naything in thier tank cause they are so curious and do eat everything. i may try some shrimp eventually.
