Hey guys!

Gunna do my first ever fish tank build! A 40" Cube! (Though i am debating on maybe going to 48").

What thicknesses will i need for the sides and base of these tank sizes? Will it be the same for both?

Will be all glass.

Also! What silicone? Some guy i saw just used "Door and Window Silicone"?

Cheers!
Troy.

PS: At the moment it's a daydream that i want to make a reality.

Interesting, that calculator uses a safety factor of 3.8, another I found says 2.5. Confusing when there doesn't appear to be a set standard!

Thanks for the help, see if anyone chimes in with a safety factor recommendation.

I agree with millerkid, 1/2" is not thick enough, well not for my house anyways. Most of what I have read say 24" deep MAX for 1/2", but as you mentioned, depending on calculator used.

If only there were standards, hey?

I'll go 3/4". Apparently SCS 1200 is tricky to find here. Will have a look in the city on Saterday.

Cheers.
