I was looking at the 55g tank I got from a friend aa few weeks ago. I'm finally gettign around to setting it up. It's an older tank. It was built from 3/8" glass. I noticed several tiny bubbles through the silicone between the glass (the silicone that joins the glass panes). Now, I cut out all of the silicone inside the tank and resealed it, and I put thicker beads than normal. My question is this:
Do any of you with older tanks notice these tiny bubbles in the glass joints? I'm wondering if I need to pull this tank apart and rebuild it. It would be REALLY tough to do considering how much silicone I put on when I re-sealed the inside

honestly both of my 55 gal tanks have a tiny bubble hear and there in the sylicone and i've never had a problem with them, not sure how worried some people get, but mine has never leaked a drop and has had the bubbles since i got the tanks probably 3 or 4 years ago.

Thanks for the reply BG. I wasn't really that worried about it, but sinceI haven't owned this tank its whole life I thought I'd throw it out there. I kinda think it's normal for some of the thicker glass to develop some bubbles eventually.

It happens. Comes from poor manufacturing practices IMO. You will be fine.
