Wel was going to build a plywood and glass tankl but after pricing glass and ply wood today. it seems that i could just build a all glass tank for about 20 bucks more. So i said to myself (self why wouldn't you just build a all glass tank instead)
I mean with glass i wouldn,t have to worry about warpage and wood rot or anything like that.
anyways Is there anything i should know about building out of glass!!
Anyone ever done this successfully and do you have any tips........

Please and thank you

mike :naughty:

I would make an aluminum frame that would be permanent to reinforce it.

wood for a frame is no problem if that is what i need
I can get 2x4 and 1x4 all day long for nothing
Rallysman that is a good idea using the aluminum as a frame. Ounce again you are the man!!!!!!!!

the wooden framework gets reoved after the silicone has dried and if you add the correct strength bars etc all glass should be just fine.

what do you mean by strength bars dixon
do you mean at the top like it says to build it at garf

72x24x24
they quoted me about $330 for glass
to build the same size tank in plywood and glass would be about the same price
glass $180 plywood $58 Then epoxy is about $85 after shipping
grand total $323
I left out silicone because i will need it for both so it is a mute point.
To sum it up i am going all glass.......

Good deal! i cant wait to see the finished product.....I may be getting lucky soon, I found a guy who tore a gas station down and i may be able to get all of the glass he kept (big sheets of 1.5" bullet proof)

I smell pond wall window!

excellant can i have a peice rally i will come get it. lol
