Glass tank's bottom: 1/2" vs 3/4"

If a glass tank is built 1/2" all around (60x30x24 or 72x30x24)... are there any benefits to a 3/4" bottom glass upgrade that costs $175? I'm just wondering if it's worth it enough or should the money be better spent on a starpphire front glass.

I would stick with the 1/2" glass and spend the $$ on better glass.
