I'm having trouble finding the recomended thickness for a 240gal 8x2x2 glass tank. Is it 1/2 inch or thicker glass?

Thanks.

Most are 1/2, one person said 3/4 but I think that was a custom build not regularly found. My 300 is 3/4 but that was custom, it regularly comes with 1/2 too even at 30 inches high!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

brcacti - Thank you, my assumption is the 1/2 should be fine for a 24inch tall tank. I believe my 180 is 1/2 inche as well. Any ideas home many sections the top has on a 240gal? or even your 300gal?

They said it was 4, two foot sections with 1/4 inch thick glass for the tops.

My 180 had only 2 sections, and I bought 2x 3ft pieces at 3/16in thick for the top. If I need to buy it for this 240gal (if I buy it) I well check out stores online or LFS for the price or go with 3/16in from a glass shop. Thanks again.

It's an oceanic tank 7' x 24" x 24".Like i said i don't have any history of the tank.Has 2 tops that are heavy.
