Hi all, im in the process of designing my new ray tank which will be 8 foot long, 5foot wide and just under 4 foot high. im going to frame it out and cover the inside with 18mm ply and then fibre glass it. with 2 viewing windows, one on the front and one on the side, the front window will be approx 80"x36" and the side window will be approx 50"x36".

My question is what thickness do you think would be ok?

i would also be open to the concept of using acrylic.

thanks for any advise

Kev

why so tall for a ray tank, just curious

for a ~7' span, unbraced at a 4' depth i wouldnt use less than 3/4" tempered, or 1" if not tempered.

there will be a few new additions to the tank, ie bass and a asian aro:D

as for the link you posted in "frnchjeep" the tank size im doing aint on there, i did look at the sticky.

i just got an email back from a friend who has done a 1000 gl tank/pond and he used 20mm on it.

thanks for the imput.
