I am planning on building a 8'x4'x2'height glass tank and am unsure of glass thickness if I use euro style bracing and have a plywood bottom. Should I use starphire glass or is standard glass ok? Also is a wood stand capable of handling a tank this heavy?
My final question is if I am only breeding stingrays in the tank am I ok with using a 600+ gallon rated fluidized bed or should I add a wet dry filter also. Any help would help greatly.

So you want to know the thickness of glass required if the tank is euro-braced (ie around all four edges and nothing across the middle? If that is the case then I wouldn't rely on the numbers from the calculator posted above, as I believe those calculations are based on "standard" bracing, which for a tank of that size would be euro braces plus at least one, maybe two, across the middle. If you used standard bracing 12mm glass would be fine, if it were me I'd be opting for 15mm if using only euro bracing.

If I added a bracing piece to the middle would the 1/2 inch be fine?
