Glass vs. Acrylic - new question

Why the hell don't those guy's at API make their little test tubes out of acrylic? Would they loose too much money on selling the replacements? (I'm down to 1 original left!)

You can boil glass tubes to sterilize them. Glass doesn't hold stain and can easily be cleaned with abrasive matter. Acrylic can cloud and scratch...

Don't see the guys in lab-coats clamoring over acrylic test tubes.

They are not that expensive to replace. My master kit was $30 and it came with 8 tubes.
