Can any of you confirm, from your own experience, that Glazed Ceramic Decorations have hurt your fish? Did it have an instant effect? Did it take Months to see any reaction? Did they start acting differently after about a years worth of exposure? Or is this an Urban Myth? Kinda like "Better Safe than Sorry".

:WHOA: If this is dangerious, then I guess I need to remove the lead weights I have been using for about a year to secure Lava Rocks to the bottom. Also the lead weights that secure the airlines to my bubblers. Never gave it any thought before, but I could be killing my fish.

I have never intentionally added lead to my tank, although the one time it was accidentally added the effect happened within a day. It was cheap lead plant on bucket I used to refill. The next day... 90% were dead.

From what i've read, whether or not lead will creep into the water itself is based on various water parameters, and of course regular water changes would keep those levels near zero anyway.

I think if lead was a serious threat to aquatic life, we would know for sure, due to the prevalence of lead plant weights.

Either way, seems like glazed stuff would be more of a danger than solid lead chunks if in fact there were a danger.
