are there any bad effects of adding glazed porcelain/clay pots to tanks?

Nope.
My uncle puts glazed pots and stuff in his tanks. No adverse affects and hes had them in his tanks for as long as i can remember.

Actully thats probubly one of the safest things you can use IMO.

You are going to want to be sure that the glaze is "food-safe"/"non-toxic" I know alot of red glazes can be toxic.

Oh,and when(if) you fragment the porcelain make shure to burr down those typical sharp edges.
