I have a 4 ft tank with an Aqua Globe rated at 40 watts over it. However it is very dim and I feel like I am providing 'mood' lighting for my fish 
The water in that tank has also been discoloured by driftwood as well so I am not sure if that is also part of the problem. Can I buy a stronger wattage globe? How much light is too much? I have no plants in there apart from some hair grass.
