If anyone has experience with glossostigma elatinoides I could use some advice. I have a 150g tank and I'm thinking of trying a groundcover. I just bought 2 more 96w light fixtures for it, so I'll now have a total of 384w of cf light. Do you think that will be enough light for the glosso to cover the ground and not only grow up towards the surface? If not, have any other groundcover suggestions(I'd like something as low growing as possible)? Also, the fixtures came with saltwater bulbs so I'll have to replace them. I was thinking about getting the 50/50 6700K/colormax bulbs for these 2 fixtures but I'm not sure how the colormax would affect plant growth. Do you think I should just stick with the full 6700K bulbs like I have in my other fixtures? Thanks.

Don't waste money of 50/50 bulbs if you are doing it for the plants. Go with straight 6700k bulbs, plants can't use the other portion anyway. How tall is the tank (is it a 150 normal or breeder?). I run 390wt over my 120g (24in tall) and can't grow ground cover, other than crypts.

So you have a 150 long. My 135 has 715 watts of CF, and I can grow glosso. PC's don't penetrate water enough for glosso at that height and wattage IME. There are very few ground covers that will work. You might try echinodorus tennellus.

Thanks for all of your input, opinions, and experience. Seems like groundcover may be out of the question for my current set-up. Maybe I'll just put several anubias nana in the open areas and mix in a few anubias coffeefolia in the mid areas for variety. They should stay fairly low and do fine with the light levels at that depth of the tank.

I didn't even think of using crypts before. C. Wendtii would probably do very well and stay pretty low. I'm not too familiar with E. Tennellus. Isn't that a type of chain sword? I think I might want a little more contrast between the foreground and background of the tank. I have a lot of vallisneria and a few large onion plants along the back and with the thin sword up front it may all look a little too grassy if you know what I mean.
