Getting ready to build, curious if anyone tried this.
I have glow in the dark spray paint, I'm thinking ? (painting back of tank) first layer, glow in the dark, then finish with black or blue.

Also thinking of lightly sanding bottoms (interior) to a matte finish...[considering grow outs for aros to avoid drop eye]
So many schemes, so little time.
Thoughts?...20201129_165843.jpg

I'm intrigued. You say "first layer, glow in the dark, then finish with black or blue"? But won't the glow in the dark paint be rendered useless if you are further coating it with black or blue??

And by sanding the bottom glass are you hoping that the aro's aren't tempted to look downwards at their reflections, which could help prevent drop eye?

If the bottom of the tank is what OP is concerned about why not just add substrate to the tank? It doesn't have to be a ton of substrate, it's just got to be enough to cover the bottom so it can't see itself. Also another thing that I learned thru youtube to help prevent drop eye is to avoid getting bottom dwelling fish and to focus of more top to mid level swimmers. This makes it to where the aro is less tempted to look down just because there is so much more action going on around it rather then underneath it.

First layer as applied to outer surface, as viewed from tank front, (this paint applies quite transparently, I believe a mere haze over blue or black would be visible)
I really like the look and easy poo cleaning of no substrate, at least for grow out...

Lol I'll definitely agree that a bare bottom tank is the easiest to clean. Sounds like an interesting look your going for tho. You'll have to upload pics of it once it's all set up and running so we can all see.
