I am such a snob when it comes to man-made fishes. Personally, I hate them, but they were al least "born" that way instead of subjected to dyeing methods. Sad, but they sell amazingly well, despite the price.

I have heard whispers of GloFish breeding true, only no one can sell the offspring, because of the trademark. Never personally witnessed it with my own eyes. Just heard from a hobbyist who visited some guy who was supposedly doing it.

I really dont believe that glowing danios are sterile as there are plenty of records about find baby glofish in their aquarium.

My female Glo is fat with eggs, gonna breed her soon. They are spec food danios though, so they are bright red but they dun glow

And I dont see how the glofish pose threat if released in the wild unless its in isolated ponds with no predators. Even red rosy minnows are rarely found in the wild.

rosey reds are found in the wild for the reason that they are fathead minnows with the different gene

Rosy red minnows dont last in the wild if there are predators in same waterways but their normal colored offspring can survive more longer than orange ones (if the rosy red minnows has a chance to reproduce). Even orange colored feral goldfish are rarely found in the waterways full of predators.
