I just went down stairs to check on a tsn I just bought today and all the lights are out in the tank ( and have been for a while) and on the top of the cave in the tank their was a faint green glow .I thought it was a reflection of somthing and took a look closer and it is a female ghost shrimp with eggs !!  :WHOA: :WHOA: Now i'm thinking i'm going :screwy: so I got my wife down their and she saw it too WTF??? Has any one else ever experienced this??? Or am I the only one that looks in to a tank with the lights out to see the nocturnal habits of my fish??

I tried to take a pic but my camera does not take pics in total dark only in low light .So I got out the cam corder with night vision but it only took a black and white pic .

radioactive shrimp? lol

it might be the eggs or somthing you feed it.

It was the whole body and it was a feeder I found out it is common among ghost shrimp and it comes from a luminescent protein the shrimp ingest from a type of algea.Freaked me out though.I have also notices a parasite in some of these shrimp lateky looks like a tube worm commonly found in mamals ??When ever I see them in a shrimp they get a free ride down the porcelin water slide to the septic tank.

ok.

I had this "issue" recently when I had to flush one of my dead female Ghost Shrimp. She wasnt carrying any eggs, but I had just come home at around 11pm and scooped her out, walked into my dark bathroom and plopped her in the toilet... thats when I noticed a glowing green flake in the water. I turned on the light, and sure enough, it was her corpse. Do they ALL do this?
