Gluing PVC fittings.

Do we really need to use primer for our applications?

Why risk it, unless you use the combo stuff. I know of folks who were fine not using primer, but for a few bucks and a few more brush swirls, decrease the chance of leaks.

My sentiment exactly. Especially when I'm gonna be circulating 72,000 gallons in a 24 hours period.
I was recently told not to bother and was just wondering if it's a common practice.

The primer is actually what does the gluing, the glue is a gap filler
uh...primer softens/preps the pvc for the cement...it does no actual gluing at all. The pvc cement creates the chemical reaction that fuses the fittings together.

Lol going by what I was told when I was working with plumbers, had 4 different guys tell me this so...

then someone somewhere in that equation was confused. Primer PRIMES the fittings for the glue, it isn't necessary at all but it does help create a much stronger bond.
