I have a 150 Gallon with a Jack Dempsey, Tiger Oscar, Pacu, and a Pleco. Recently I noticed there were little dots around the top of the glass on the inside. Not long after, there were squiggly lines. These lines are stationary, but if you splash water on them or touch them, they can squirm. Now when I open the hood, several gnats come out. I'm assuming either the squiggly lines or the dots are eggs, but I can't get rid of either one of them. Anyone have any ideas that are safe for my fish?

Wow! I've never heard of them laying eggs in someones tank before but it's possible. They won't hurt the fish and the fish will probably eat them. Do you add salt to your tank? if not you may want to, i don't think they will survive if there is salt in it. Hopefully the salt will keep other gnats from laying eggs again.

maybe if your water level is low you could raise it so the eggs are in the water constantly, they would ether drown or be eatin, i dunno know if it would work it not but maybe

I thank you for your ideas! I didn't think of that! It's definitely worth a try. I'll do a water change and add salt and keep the water level higher than normal.
