I just picked up a 6" male and I cant find much husbandry info on them. From what i can remember of various books or article is that there water is nothing different than avg CA cichlids, there feeding is omnivoristic-i think I read there an algae grazer like alot of the riveine cichlids. They get around a foot long and are rather agressive to there own kind, but I figure any cichlid(Veija) that resembles them may be a problem.
Let me know if I on the right track, or have link to a good site.
Thanks for any help.

I provided mine with lots of current via really bubbly sponge and box filters.

They'll eat just about anything. I do lots of water changes so I didn't do anything special for them. They're very nice fish. Lost the female in moving cross country (male killed her in the temporary storage tank)...

Here's a picture of the male eating a superworm (his favorite food).

I have successfully bred and kept a mature pair of Chuco Godmani's. So what ever you want to know, ask, and I will try to help you. The male I have is particularly aggressive towards everything, my oscar and all catfish in particular. They are however great fish and very interesting to watch. I feed them mainly on the Hikari vegetable pellets which they love. They like clean water, I do a 25% change every week.
