I've been keeping Satanoperca since the mid 1980's and have in that time kept x Satanoperca acuticeps on 3 occasions. I read quite a few articles written by keepers of SA cichlids, and take on board most of what is written.
A week or so ago I collected 7 x 4 inch specimens of this species and put them into a 200 liter tank along with 6 3 inch Satanoperca daemon. They have a sand base in the tank.

Anyway the "facts", as told by other fish keepers, stated "these fish do not sift", period.

Not true says I, my S.acuticeps obviously haven't read the articles or books saying their not supposed to sift.
I feed my fish 4 times each day, and no matter what I feed them, they take the food from the tank base, chew it round their mouths, and spit out the sand or get rid of it via their gills, just like all the other Sifters - and I do have them all.
So here's a fact, all Satanoperca species are Sifters !!!

Eh? I've never seen anything stating they don't sift. Their mouth position being more forward was suggested they sift less than other other Satanoperca, which in my limited experience in the pet store when we had them held true, but they certainly did sift.

I have small 4 inch Satanoperca (probably leuticosta, but I am not sure) and they prefer to eat food before it hit bottom. :D
How big Satanoperca acuticeps grow? Other Satanoperca can grow 10 inch or more, but this should be smallest species. Any more info about them would be great. There is only limited amount of information about them on internet. I want buy some as soon as I see them in Czech Republic.
