I'm going catfishing tonight for the first time. I'm excited, going out at about 10. Going to use the Gulp! Catfish Dough. Any tips or tricks???

If you chum it will help an dont make alot of noise if there around you should cetch them. Gulp works good should do fine let me know if you ketch any thing.

some more info would probably help. What type(s) of catfish are you targeting? What rod/reel/hook/line setup are you using? We have channel cats, white cats, and bullheads where I'm from and I usually use shrimp rigged texas style with great success.

Headed out in a few. Channel cats and flatheads are big here. I'm using 2 rods. One is a zebo 7' with a zebco gen30 reel with 10lb cajun line. The other is a shakespeare 6'6" combo with the same 10lb line. Both have slip sinker rigs on them.

I'm shore stillwater fishing so I read that I should cast out and just let it sit. The cats will be drawn to it and I could use a second real for jigging...

So nothin.... Not even a nibble. Went to two different spots and still nothin. The first spot was a confirmed good spot, as a friend of mine pulled out a 20 pounder on sunday!!!! So frustrated

Use a variation of bait on a flyline make some homemade garlic dip ive had amazing success with mackeral/shrimp, just cause a big cat was caught in one place dont mean its a good spot cats move alot and are usually clumped together if you land one stay where you are more will come around just get plenty of scent in the water and alot of oil from the garlic and maceral :]

go to the grocery store and get some raw shrimp from the seafood counter, not that frozen dog****. if it isnt raw it wont work. Also try earthworms. These 2 baits are the mainstay for most catfisherman at least in my area. Once you get on top of finding them, try using cuy up pieces (i like the head) or a whole small bluegill. Most of your big boys and girls with be moving up to bigger food items like those.
