I went out just before dawn when the sun was cresting over the tank, right when i knew it was feeding time for them. Only took a few minutes before i got a nibble.

well...I wouldn't do it. But if you don't touch the fish with anything absorbant and you don't foul-or-gut hook any fish, you should be fine...
