Going fishing this weekend

I'm going fishing this week end and really want to add a Perch to my collection, still new to keeping fish. Yesterday I pick up a 20 gal tank that I haven't set up yet. My question is do you think I could catch a small perch 3-5 inches and put in my 10 gal tank with my two common gold fish until I get the 20 gal up and cycled?

I'm planning on getting a larger tank very soon just looking for a good deal on Craigslist what size should I shoot for? I would like to have 2 Perch or a perch and a sunfish/blue gill maybe a little rock bass.

Kind of a dream of mine to have natives been catching them my whole life.

Up here in Michigan if it madders.

Very good crystal clear filtration. After I just realized what u were asking, on second thought keep to the goldfish. Set up your 20 gallon, and add some small monsters. Dont put anh natives in there. They will get huge. Trust me it will outgrow your tank in a couple weeks. Natives get huge. You can set up your 20 and after you set it all up, set up a stocking thread and u should get some good ideas from that
 
Thanks for the advice. Looks like I'll just be enjoying natives on my plate.
