So, since I have gotten my female Midas plants are a no go since the non stop groups of fry been in the picture. I have put potted melon swords in, but she will just tear them up if she is unable to uproot them. Junior could honestly care less, though I think a name change may be in affect for him. Since becoming hooked on Nemo, my 2yr old daughter calls him Marlin as of late lol. Anyway, I have moved my swords to a 29g and turned it into a sump so to speak. Just waiting on the tubes to come in so I can hook it up. I have found a replacement plant though to be in the tank. I recently seen a add on Craigslist for Water Hyacinths and figured that I will just beat them to it. Plus, my wife hates the way the top of the tank looks. So I bought a few clumps and put them in. Fry enjoyed all the water creatures hiding in the roots that the goldfish in the pond couldn't get and I missed during a rinsing. Wife also enjoys the fact the flowers are purple. The female has only torn the really long roots off which I am fine with. Other then that, looks great. Also have a massive pothos plant that in one of my HOB filters that now covers the whole window with it's vines. Can't wait until the Water Hyacinths fill in.

Looks like they will be breeding again. Junior(aka Marlin)'s hump is up lol.

Looks good Scott, the roots should really help improve the water quality and sumping in the 29 is a great idea.

I like the algae background. Reminds me of photos where the subject is focus and the background blurry.

Thats what I am betting on. I still love my swords so this is a good alternative.
looks very nice.
Thanks man

Would love some of the Backgrounds Justin did, but until I get a larger tank not going to invest. I guess this is the cheap fix for a natural background.

What are the chances they try and jump out?

I've had fish dart to the top while protecting eggs/fry and keep on going :(

Functional and it looks good too. My Pothos experiment failed miserably lol. You have been pretty successful with plants and continue to do so. The plants really make for great filtration and a place for fry and smaller fish to hide and forage. Keep it up, Scott!

Looks good Scott. Ive got some hyacinth in my pond that I plan on putting in my tanks come fall/winter
Awesome, take some pics Zach. Also, congrats there on the little one. Welcome to the daddy club.
Looking good, bet your nitrates are <5ppm, if any reading at all.
I don't even messure, but I should. Plants are thriving so figure there is really no point.

I would say rare. The plants are covering the whole top minus under the lights. They don't come at me as hard as when there were no plants

Thanks man. The other Pothos didn't do to well, but this one is huge. I will take more pictures later and show it. I really would love to introduce platys again, but will wait until I get my 300g.
