Our tank is going on month 2 of operation. I can say we have had some successes and some failures... The set up is a 90 gallon tank with the hope of a reef tank soon...lol. I curently have (2) great clowns, (1) Royal Gramma, (1) green serpant star named Sherman of course, and a host of dwarf heremits and snails. I have killed (2) sailfin tangs so far and are now scared of tangs. Do tangs need a more mature system??? or ar the sailfins particularly fragile?? I thought about a blennie or something for the time being... I have a whole lot of empty space in the tank... suggestions???

2 month of cycling is usually enough for the tank to be cycled I would check your ammonia and nitrites to make sure water is ok. Sailfin tangs are usually really hary unless you get them tiny. Are they eating before you purchase them? Are they iching out? What kind of clowns do you have? Never heard of great clowns. Also make sure you put a grounding probe in your tank.

Oh.. I mean I like the clowns and think they are great! LOL.. Yes, both sailfins were very small, and died of ich... FAST. Ammonia and Nitrates are good. And what the heck is a grounding probe...I am new.

Tangs need a more mature system I usually wait a year before adding them. blenny, goby, cardinals, something a bit harder or just wait and don't add anything for another month or so would be the best choice of all.
