So I ave my RBP tank at school right now, but am going home for thanksgiving along with everyone else who I would trust to take care of them. They'll be on their own for 4 days. Any suggestions on what I could do to feed them? They aren't on pellets so an automatic feeder system is out of the question. I have been feeding them mostly shrimp, but used to feed them chicken with the occasional feeder. Which means they'll eat live fish. I was thinking of just throwing in a bunch of feeders or something. What are your thoughts? Thanks for the help.

Feed a large load of shrimp or whatever and then add a good amount of feeders afterwards. Like Mike said, people feed their piranhas once/twice a week. So you shouldn't worry too much. Remember turkey makes you LAZY and can knock you out cold. Haha

4 days isn't going to be an issue unless they are like 2" then you may be facing mass cannibalism. Fish can easily go 2 weeks with no food once they are a little older. The water change is situational, it's not needed at all if your tank is kept clean, again 4 days isn't going to make or break anything. I regularly leave my fish for a week (previous fish not my baby RBP) on vacations and have never suffered a loss.

"Tank is kept clean"? My tanks are squeaky clean but that doesn't have anything to do with the bio load, if his nitrates spike then he leaves for 4 days that can lead to some serious problems. It's always good practice to do wc before a vacation, very good preventive care, especially if you cherish your piranhas!

I just left for Texas for 3 days, flight left at 11am, had to be at the airport by 8, meaning I got up at 5:30am just to change water in all my tanks, peace of mind, not always necessary like you said but recommended imo.

If one dies from cannibalism and rots while he's away "already" dirty water (high n03) is going to foul much faster and stress the fish, as opposed to clean water (low n03), that's just one example of one thing going wrong!

Just incase!

4 days is no problem at all.

I agree, just feed them a big meal before you leave with a nice water change afterwards and i think you'll be fine.
