I am going to be gone for 5 days. I believe the fish should be fine ill drop a vacation block feeder if I have to but will the plants die with just regular window lighting instead of my t8? I read also that they comptete with fish for oxygen when the light is off so I don't want a crash. I have nobody to take care of it because my sister is getting married down south and we are all going. my dog is coming with me and my parrot is staying at my boys house who doesn't drive

Vacation blocks are a waste of money. All they really serve is to increase the bio-load of your system. They provide little, if any, nutrition,
I suggest a battery operated automatic feeder to fed your fish daily. You can get a timer for your light at nearly any department store and hardware/lighting store.

you don't think the fish will be ok 5 days? I was more worried about the plants ruining the water. I'm leaving Thursday morning so ill feed them then and be back Monday night and of course feed them again. stock list in sig

your fish will turn on each over get a automatic fish feeder and a light timer as oddball rightly said

What species fish?
Most will be fine for a week.
Get a timer for the light. That's a good thing to have anyway.

20 tiger barbs 1 red tail shark 1 juvenile electric blue acara. heavily planted

I only feed my fish 4-5 days a week. I have left for 3 weeks one time with no problem. I have left lights off for a week a couple of times to kill off algae. The plants don't look great but come back quickly. Ambiant light from windows does more than you would think.
