Hey guys so I have a 75g that I am putting 6 2inch Jack Dempseys in soon. When a pair forms I will move the other 4. These guys supposedly are all blue genes so I am trying to get some EBJDs out of them. Anyways I plan on these being the only cichlids in the tank. I was wondering though about adding a pleco to the tank. Would this be a danger to the eggs or would the Jacks keep the pleco away from the eggs? If this is doable what pleco would you recommend that would be ok to live in the 75 for life? Id like one that will help feed on the scraps from the jacks, but I will also feed him specifically as well to keep him healthy.
Anyways are there any other tankmates that I could add, dithers and things, or would you recommend staying away from dithers for the protection of the eggs?
I have one more question though it is unrelated to Jacks. I was told that the only Festaes that get that gorgeous bright red color are wild caught ones, and you cannot get that coloration out of captive bred Festaes. Is that true? I figured I would ask in this thread to keep from making two. Thanks so much!
