so im going to check out a glass 180gallon and i dont want a blow out, is there a way to check the sealant on a glass tank to see if its in good condition or any signs of stress on the panals to look out for?

use your own judgement when you get there. just feel it if it feels spongy get it. if it feels hard and looks dry rotted it might need to be redone. can probably get someone to do it cheap if you dont know how to re-silicone.

cool, the spongy vs hard slicicone is simple and makes sense

dont over look scratches and chips too. check the corners good. chips can go all the way threw and damage both panes of glass. then you are stuck trying to replace them which is pointless.
