I am going to Shark Aquarium right now(although i am not sure what is currently in stock), but haven't decide which to get.
I like common wolf fish due to its aggression but red and gold wolf are more active and prettier.

1. Can i keep one common and one red in the same tank?

2. Will it be ok for my (4in+3in)2 convicts and (2.5in)1 jaguar cichlid to be kept with a common wolf around 6 inches?

Ignoring the fact that wolves generally don't get on (with obvious exceptions such as Gold wolves) the size difference would mean the eventual demise of the red. Adding to this, the potential extreme aggression of the Common wolf and i would say it's a no. If you were going to keep wolves with the above aggressive cichlids, a group of Gold’s might be ok. Again, the Red would be fairly small and if you consider that a Jag can get pretty darn big, again I would not take that risk either.

I’m sure others have more valuable opinions but from the hundreds of threads pertaining to this subject, it is easy to surmise the above.

Dom,

I was just at Shark Aquarium a few days ago and didn't see any common wolffish. I inquired about the golds but they still haven't come in yet with no future date of arrival set. I ended up going with a black wolf. Now I'm kicking myself for not picking up the Hoplias microlepis they had there. It was about 7" and not many people have them. You may want to look into that guy before I go back and get him. ;)

Oh yeah, I agree with Mynheers, sooner or later the common would eliminate the red.

they did not have any gold or red wolfs.
1. Hoplias Mala
2. Hoplias Micro
3. Black wolf
I was gonna get Hoplias Micro since its price double Hoplias and was kept alone, but when i asked them about size and aggression, they said H.Micro same Mala, they are both common wolf, i was afraid that micro would not be as aggressive as mala, so i bought mala.

Congrats on the wolf fish:)

The fish will most likely get progressively more aggressive as it grows so have patience if you want a nutter of a fish, my mala, when new, was a wus and was scared by tankmates - now he has his own tank and is a mean animal.

I would expect your smallest fish may become lunch reguardless of the wolf's size. A member on here put it best - small fish become the wolf's lunch, larger fish are torn to bite size pieces and are then the wolf's lunch:nilly:
