I saw something labeled as Gold Belly Piranha at this pet store thats going out of buisness. It was like 5 inches and labeled at 78 dollars and its half off so 30 or so. Is that a good deal? Im getting a 55 on monday for free....hmmm...

What kind of Piranha is this pygo? rhom?

Well I checked aquascape it's a good price but boring fish. I rather a rhom I think. I tested the fish out with my finger and it hid in the corner. Even when I came back to it, it was still in the corner. Although that could mean the store patrons are always doing that bugging the fish out. I dont know anyone find them to be super aggressive?

i think they might be macs or spilos

Yeah it looked alot like the spilo on aquascape.

Im just floored I havent seen P's being sold here in NY as of late. I used to see them as a kid, of course the tanks were never marked.

the spilos on AS aren't actually spilos. Spilos are uber rare. Most of the fish people call spilos are actually (for the time being) considered macs. I've been assured by the people in the know that there are anatomical differences under the skin. I have yet to verify this. Anybody have a dead spilo to donatE?

A five inch rhom will most certainly hide a good bit and not chase your finger. Mine is 2 years old, and 6 inches long and half the time I even look at it It goes nuts trying to get to its hiding spot.

Probably because of NY's state laws regarding the transportation, sale, and ownership of Piranha. Although not illegal gettin' permits might be to much extra cost or just a plain pain in the arse.
